The Ichishima Family originated from Tamba, Hyogo Prefecture. The founder of the family Ichishima Jihei moved to Shibata from Kaga Province (now Ishikawa Prefecture) along with the Feudal Lord Mizoguchi in 1598. The Ichishimas took up residence in Suibara and developed the Kambara Plains
