Kaohsiung is the most dense and the second largest city in Taiwan, with a population around 1.51 million. It acts as a center for manufacturing, refining, shipbuilding, and some other light or heavy industries. A major port which through most of marine imports and exports of Taiwan, is located at the city, but is not managed by the city government.
