Oberoi plans foray into luxury travel business

It will offer end-to-end package for the inbound luxury travellers which the group claims is first of its kind by any hospitality company. Oberoi group is introducing a brand called 'India In Luxury' for the packages.
According to a recent survey of Asia Travel Tips, the inbound traffic to India had spent over Rs 6,000 crore between July 2005 and June 2006 from their credit cards alone. EIH spokesperson said 'India In Luxury' includes every element of the guest's visit from full board stay at award-winning Oberoi hotels to seamless executive class domestic air and surface transportations and excursions accompanied by guides.
"For us, this is like going up on the value chain. We shall concentrate on inbound luxury travellers to begin with. We will help make travel through India more enriching. Our unique itinerary will offer the opportunity to absorb the history, experience the culture, interact with the locals, rejuvenate through spa, yoga and meditation and savour the regional cuisines," the spokesperson said.
According to the spokesperson, 'India In Luxury' offers a set of itineraries of 9,14 &22-day tours which allow a guest to experience the best of India at a comfortable and leisurely pace.
Initially, seven Oberoi group hotels will be included in the travel packages. These are Oberoi Udaivilas (Udaipur), Oberoi Rajvilas (Jaipur), Oberoi Amarvilas (Agra), Oberoi Vanyavilas (Ranthambore), Winflower Hall (Shimla), Oberoi (Mumbai and New Delhi).
The spokerperson added that it has maintained a comparative price tag for the package. India in Luxury will cost Rs 3 lakh for a 9-day package for one person in twin-sharing basis. The price for a 14-day package is Rs 4.45 lakh and the 22-day itinerary is priced at Rs 6.80 lakh. "We have included all meals at the hotels and outside and spa treatments within the package.
