Travel News By Radio New Zealand

Police in Queenstown are making a last ditch-attempt on Tuesday to find missing Israeli tourist Liat Okin.

It has been almost a month since Ms Okin, 35, was last seen at the Mackenzie Hut on the Routeburn Track in Central Otago.

Police have spent more than two weeks searching for her and on Monday held a meeting to consider calling off the search.

But Acting Senior Sergeant Steve Hutt says they have decided to search one last area.

Her brother Itamar Tas and an expert in rescue situations, Hilik Magnus, have been in New Zealand helping with the search.

Itamar Tas says a privately funded search will begin on Wednesday.
