Qatar Airways big draw at Tokyo travel trade fair
QATAR Airways was a major participant at this year’s edition of JATA World Travel Fair in Tokyo, Asia’s largest travel trade show. The national carrier took ...

part in the key industry event for the fourth time in a row. This year the expo attracted over 100,000 travel industry professionals and consumers.

Qatar Airways launched operations to Japan in 2004.
Qatar Airways had put up a spacious stand at the three-day exhibition aimed at promoting travel from Japan to destinations around the world through Doha. On display was a Qatar Airways’ business-class seat which hundreds of visitors had experienced, the airline said.

Qatar Airways senior manager (Far East Asia & Australasia) Marwan Koleilat said the airline was proud to be a part of this exhibition, the most important travel trade show within the local Japanese market.

“Shows like JATA are an ideal opportunity for the local travel industry and public to know about the latest developments within the airline,” said Koleilat.

“We are excited to share what is proving to be yet another year of massive expansion for Qatar Airways, with a number of new routes launched and several more to come before the year is out.”

The show is held annually in conjunction with the JATA World Travel Congress at the Tokyo International Exhibition Centre. The venue is Japan’s largest exhibition and convention centre with some 230,000sq m of floor space, located on the waterfront in the Japanese capital.

Each year, JATA World Travel Fair places special emphasis on a particular destination in its themed exhibition area. This year the focus is on travel to the Middle East.

“Highlighting the Middle East at this year’s expo demonstrates the importance of this region as a rapidly growing business and leisure market,” Koleilat added.

Qatar Airways flies daily from Osaka to Doha, with “excellent” onward connections to Europe, Middle East, Africa and the United States. The airline also has a codeshare partnership with ANA on the trunk route between Doha and Osaka and beyond to Tokyo Haneda Airport, Fukuoka and Sapporo.
