Swedish police have found what they believe to be the body of an Irishman who disappeared in Stockholm almost two weeks ago.

Thirty-two-year-old Wicklow man John Ahern was last seen in the city of March 15th while on a break with a friend to celebrate St Patrick's Day.

A search was mounted in the aftermath of his disappearance and a body was discovered yesterday afternoon.

The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to Mr Ahern's family.
