A £2 MILLION scheme to revamp an historic Ledbury building begins next month.
The town's Tourist Information Centre will move to the Master's House at the beginning of March.
The move is part of Herefordshire Council plans to renovate the 15th century building into a library and community centre for the town.
Some traders have criticised the move - which was recommended in a Ledbury and Area Development Trust business plan - due to loss of prime window advertising space.
But Councillor Adrian Blackshaw, Herefordshire Council's cabinet member for economic development and community services, said: "This is an opportunity to make the most of the Master's House and start the longer term process of creating a great resource for the town."
The centre will re-open in March in a temporary position, before holding a grand opening later when refurbishment is complete.
