The kiosk, in Kempock Gardens, has been spruced up with a fantastic makeover, thanks to Inverclyde Council and Gourock Business Club.
Anyone looking for information about the area can now pop into the office for help and advice.
Margaret Gaffney and her helpers will also be on-hand to provide up-to-the-minute information on cruise ship visits. The keys to the refurbished kiosk were handed to Margaret on Thursday — and she is raring to go for the new season.
Margaret said: “It looks fantastic. I’m looking forward to working here over the summer. You meet people from around the world.”
Inverclyde Council and Gourock Business Club teamed up to overhaul the office, which is used by hundreds of people over the summer months.
The information office was established in the 1960s by the Gourock Traders Association. It closed down in the 1980s but was reconstituted in the 1990s.
Gourock Business Club took over its sponsorship around four years ago.
Former councillor Jim Hunter campaigned for the refurbishment. He said: “This office is a great asset to Gourock and Inverclyde. It’s a really busy wee office and is great for the community. The council and the club have done an excellent job.”
